scene summary of Julius Caesar act 1 scene 1

the play starts on a high-sounding and a crowded/elbow-to-elbow passage in Rome as Julius Caesar comes back from battle, where he stamped Pompey’s sons into the ground after he won  the war.

Two men, Flavius and Murellus, arrive at a Roman street, along with various civilians. Flavius and Murellus order the civilians to return home and get back to work you know this when he says: “What, know you not, / Being mechanical, you ought not walk / Upon a labouring day without the sign / Of your profession?”. Murellus engages a cobbler, (a person whose job is mending shoes), in a lengthy inquiry about his line of work; misinterpreting the cobbler’s replies, Murellus quickly gets angry with him. Flavius then comes and ask why the cobbler is not in his shop working. The cobbler explains that he is taking a vacation from work in order to see the triumph (a lavish parade celebrating military victory)—he wants to watch Caesar’s procession through the city, which will include the captives won in a recent battle against his archrival Pompey.

personification

the writer has used personification in the graveyard book. he shows this when he writes the knife has done almost everything it came to the house to do. in this he wants us to think the knife means a lot to the person and that he cares for it. with that line it doesn’t say that the knife meant a lot to him but he says it done almost everything it came to the house to do. it like if i said johnny has done almost everything it came to the house to do. there both relating to johnny or the knife as something that has a m,ind of his own and only a human has that.

Shakespeare creates tension in Macbeth through the dramatic irony. One good reason I have for this is at the beginning of the play ( Macbeth) the witches cursed a women’s husband and everyone on her husbands ship as she was very disrespectful to the witches. Unfortunately, Macbeth and Banquo doesn’t know what the witches would do if they get insulted. As of this they insult the witches. What they said can be cast as disrespectful and as if the witches were on a lower level to them. What Banquo said to insult her was ” Upon her skinny lips; you should be a women, and yet your beards forbid me to interpret that you are so. Then Macbeth replies ” speak if you can: who are you”?
The first witch says ” all hail Macbeth, hair to thee, thane of glamis.                                                               The second witch says ” all hail Macbeth, hail to thee, thane of cowdor.
The third witch says ” all hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter.

Later on in Act 1 Scene 3 Macbeth says ” stay, you imperfect speakers. Tell me more. By Finel’s death, I know I am the Thane of Glamis, but how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cowdor lives a prosperous gentleman, and to be king stands not within the prospect of belief, no more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence you owe this strange intelligence, or why upon this blasted Heath you shop our way with such prophetic greeting? Speak I charge you”. this shows that Macbeth was interested about what the witches was saying and he wants to know more. It also shows that he is confused with what the witches said and wants more of an open answer. He is seeking a basic fury where u don’t had to put much thought in, or a complicated fury with a description with it so that it is easier to understand. The witches doesn’t respond to Macbeth although it’s needed. The witches just disappear and live Macbeth in confusion.

There is also the language in Macbeth. This has a large effect with the tension Shakespeare created in Macbeth. He has used a lot of different writing techniques. A few of these are similes, metaphors and personification. This has also made the book more interesting. There are a few other reasons such as when the reader knows what’s happening or what happened but the characters don’t. One example of this is when King Duncan gets killed. The reader knows that Macbeth is the one that killed him but the characters thought it was donalblain and Malcolm. As of this they are the people that they blamed leaving Macbeth safe. I think that the soliloquies that are more powerful and entertaining are the ones that lead into something bigger or more dramatic, such as when Macbeth killed King Duncan.

My reasons for this is when Macbeth says  ” is this a which I see before me, the handle towards my hand? Come, let me clutch thee: I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to felling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heart-oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form as palpable as this which now I draw. Thou marshall’st Mehta the way that I was going, and such an instrument I was to use. Mine eyes are made the fools o’th’ other senses, or else worth all the rest. I see thee still, and on thy blade and dungeon gouts of blood, which was not so before. There,s no such thing: it is the bloody business which informs thus to mine eyes. Now o’er the one half-world nature seems dea, and wicked dreams abuse the certain end sleep. Witchcraft murder, alarmed by his sentinel, the wolf, whose howl’s his watch, thus with his stealthy pace, with tarquin’s ravishing strides, towards his design moves like a ghost. Thou sure and firm-set Earth, hear not my steps, which way they walk, for fear thy very stones prate of my whereabouts, and take the present horror from the time, which now suits with it. Whiles I threat, he lives: words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives. This is why I think that soliloquies that lead into something more dramatic are better more entertaining and more powerful.

If the witches wasn’t in the play the play wouldn’t be as good and it would be more complicated on how stuff happened. The play wouldn’t flow as well as if it did if the witches were in the play. My reasons for this is the fact that, the witches are the reason why Macbeth chooses to kill Duncan, so if the witches wasn’t in the play Macbeth most likely wouldn’t of killed Duncan. Although there is still a possibility where Macbeth found another reason to kill Duncan. If this did happen the play would still change as they would have to rewrite it and put in the reason why he chose to kill Duncan this time. The reason why Macbeth chose to kill Duncan was because the witches said “all hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter. As they didn’t make it clear how Macbeth would become king he assumed that it meant was was meant to kill the present king who was Duncan.
The witches also said to Macbeth ” Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth: beware Macduff, beware the thane of fire. Before this the told Macbeth ” for none of women born shall harm Macbeth “.this does confuses Macbeth as he believes that everyone is women born. Macbeth believes that no man of women born would harm him because of this he isn’t worried about Macduff.

In conclusion I believe that if the witches wasn’t in Macbeth some of the scenes that was there before most likely wouldn’t of happened. There’s is still a possibility that the same stuff Could of happened in different ways such as Macbeth killing Duncan but I think they would have to spend a lot of time remaking it so that the same things happen and it is just as good.

is graffiti vandalism or art

hello,
I’m here to speak to u about my opinion on the statement “is graffiti is a vandalism or an art”.

I believe that graffiti is an art and is not a vandalism my reason for this is because of what the meaning of “art” actually is. I researched it and Wikipedia says that art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. People have different opinions of what they think is art as they may not like the design or like that certain type of art. This is because we are humans and we all like different stuff. Some people in this world like graffiti what is writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place. most of the time this is made to make a picture, it is sometimes made for writing. i personally like graffiti because of its texture and how it looks. Graffiti among other arts are a skill to learn. people believe that it is a vandalism because it is sprayed onto walls. people can also paint on walls, so why would graffiti be a crime and painting wouldn’t be? Some people enjoy graffiti and find it creative. Graffiti has been going on the generations, this is a few thing about the history of graffiti. Wiki shows, The term graffiti referred to the inscriptions, figure drawings, and such, found on the walls of ancient sepulchres or ruins, as in the Catacombs of Rome or at Pompeii. Use of the word has evolved to include any graphics applied to surfaces in a manner that constitutes vandalism. The only known source of the Safaitic language, a form of proto-Arabic, is from graffiti: inscriptions scratched on to the surface of rocks and boulders in the predominantly basalt desert of southern Syria, eastern Jordan and northern Saudi Arabia. Safaitic dates from the first century BC to the fourth century AD. So u can see that graffiti has been here for a long time and i don’t believe that it should be cast as a crime. the only reason it should be a crime is if a graffiti artist does it on someone’s property without their permission but if they have permission or they are doing it on a local piece of property i believe that it should be aloud.
So this is my opinion on what graffiti is i hope this has helped some people understand what graffiti actually is and start seeing it as an art.

Ricardo
